I recently purchased this coat in the color saddle and size XL. Upon recieving it I immediately liked the looks. It easily fit my 6'4" 225lb frame. The sizing chart was perfect. It is built roomy enough to layer underneath, but not so heavy it is uncomfortable on warmer days. I don't feel like my shoulders are binding when reaching. Since I have had it we have had -25 windchills and +40 days. It breaks the wind well and with a wool vest underneath I was never cold on the coldest days. On warmer days I have yet to overheat.
My only bad critgue of it (and a very minor one at that) is the blanket liner comes all the way down to the edge of the coat. I feel this may lead to wear of the liner and be a place for burrs to attach to. I feel if the outside material was folded under to give the liner an inch or so of space between it and the bottom edge it would prevent this. (Posted on 2/7/13)
I purchased this coat about 18 months ago. It has become my favorite winter coat. I have purchased Schaefer Ranchwear before and knew the quality would be outstanding. I chose the Tobacco color because I like to use darker clothing in the winter. It is the perfect riding coat because you can unzip the bottom zipper and unsnap the side riding vents for a more comfortable ride. Whoever designed this coat knew what they were doing in regards to riding and ranching. I highly recommend Schaefer products. They are the benchmark company for ranching and western clothing. I do whatever I can to purchase Made in the USA products. (Posted on 12/23/12)
